This is a really beautiful example of late 1950s to early 1960s cocktail wear from the era. It has the retail label ‘Eleanor's House of Fashion Miami’, but I suspect very much that due to the quality this ensemble has, that this is a retailer's label and that this is a designer's piece whose label was removed.
The dress itself features a sweetheart neckline camisole, overlaid with a silk chiffon bodice. The skirt is a classic pencil design in a wavy ribboned lame so that the black element shimmers in the light. There is also a little waist bow on the front the dress that fastens to the rear with the original metal zip. The silk portion of the chiffon has two fabric buttons to close the back.
The jacket is made from the same lame all over and features three large elaborate metal buttons to fasten. It is a classic square cut bolero shape with dolman sleeves and is beautifully lined in a very high quality acetate. This piece is of expert class and is as good as it gets in absolutely superb vintage condition. Barely worn and no faults of any note. Best fit for up to a UK size 10-12, US 6-8.
